The 2010 deadlines for the MacArthur Fund for Arts & Culture at The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation will be Monday, March 1, for performing arts groups in theater, dance and music, and Tuesday, June 1, for all other arts organizations, such as visual and media arts; literary arts; interdisciplinary arts; special projects; museums, and service, policy or advocacy groups.  For more information and a link to the application, please click the tab "what we support."

On November 16, 2009, the board of The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation approved the following grants to non-performing arts groups as part of the MacArthur Fund for Arts & Culture at The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation.  At the end of each grant, we list the group’s MacArthur Fund category.

Grant Decisions - November 16, 2009

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on November 16, 2009 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area organizations unless noted otherwise):

For Arts:
-The Chicago Sinfonietta: $7,500 for transition to a new conductor as founding conductor retires for health reasons.
-Grantmakers in the Arts (Seattle, WA): $15,000 to support 2010 Annual Conference in Chicago;

For Built Environment:

-500 Clown—$10,000 (for each of three years)
-Adventure Stage Chicago—$10,000 (for each of three years)
-Fifth House Ensemble—$5,000 (for each of two years)
-Hoperaworld—$7,500 for one year
-MPAACT—$10,000 (for each of two years)
-Teatro Americano—$5,000 (for each of two years)

-Arts & Business Council of Chicago: $30,000 for each of 2 years for general operations;
-Lawyers for the Creative Arts: $20,000 for general operations;
-Gene Siskel Film Center:  $12,500 for general operations
-Illinois Arts Alliance Foundation:  $15,000 for general operations

For the Built Environment:

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on July 13, 2009 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area organizations unless noted otherwise):

For Arts:

-Access Living:  $5,000 to support a partnership with the Harris Theater to present the Chicago premiere of Dame Evelyn Glennie, deaf percussionist, with the Sao Paulo Orchestra;

-Chicago Humanities Festival:  $10,000 to convert architecture presentations from past Humanities Festivals to their new website;
