Please note the conclusion of the program

From 2003 to 2022, the MacArthur Funds for Culture, Equity, and the Arts at the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation (MacArthur-Driehaus) offered unrestricted support to strengthen and sustain small and midsized arts and cultural organizations.

The funding partnership between the MacArthur and Driehaus foundations sunsetted at the end of 2022. However, MacArthur will continue supporting small and midsized Chicago cultural organizations in 2023 and beyond through a new partnership with the Field Foundation.

Please click here and here for additional information.

The Driehaus Foundation board and staff are enormously proud to have supported the hundreds of cultural initiatives that have received grants from the MacArthur-Driehaus partnership over the past 20 years and send the very best wishes for the future success of those groups.

Reporting requirements remain in effect for all MacArthur-Driehaus general operating (single- and multi-year) and professional development grant awards. Grantees can reference the grant agreement as well as Fluxx for specifics.

The Driehaus Foundation is no longer accepting general operating grant requests for this funding program. Grants for the final year of the partnership were announced in June 2022 and October 2022.

All inquiries about the new funding partner and next iteration of the MacArthur Foundation’s Culture, Equity, and the Arts program should be directed to Geoffrey Banks, Senior Program Officer - Chicago Commitment, MacArthur Foundation, e: gbanks@macfound.org,
p: (312) 726-8000.

Until grant agreements expire in 2023 (the specific month varies; please see the grant agreement or Fluxx for more information), we welcome and encourage MacArthur-Driehaus grantees to continue including the foundations’ logos on your promotional materials.

Please use either of the layouts immediately below for both logos.

We ask that you maintain the ratio of space between the Driehaus and MacArthur logos as shown in the two examples above. This includes the amount of space between the logos.

Please note:

  • When possible, use the credit line “Supported by The MacArthur Funds for Culture, Equity, and the Arts at the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation” near the logos (preferable) or in lieu of logos (less desirable).
  • You are welcome to link each logo to the respective foundation’s website when using digitally.
  • Consult your program officer regarding any nontraditional use of the logos.

The Driehaus Foundation has a separate grantmaking program in Arts and Culture. Please click here for a detailed description of this separate Arts and Culture program, which is more limited in focus and eligibility than MacArthur-Driehaus.
