On October 22, Landmarks Illinois presented the 2021 Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Awards virtually and in-person, at the historic Davis Theater in Chicago. The award ceremony honored the nine award-winning preservation projects and the people whose extraordinary efforts made them possible.

In addition to celebrating the award-winners, the event featured a special tribute to honor the memory and creative spirit of the late Richard H. Driehaus, Landmarks Illinois’ longtime partner in preservation. Also, architecture firm JGMA received the Richard H. Driehaus Legacy Award for Innovation, for their transformation of a vacant Kmart store into a campus for Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep.

The 2021 winners of the Landmarks Illinois Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation awards are:

Award for Adaptive Reuse

  • Epiphany Center for the Arts, Chicago
  • Mercer County Carnegie Library, Aledo
  • Tiger Senior Apartments, Paris
  • West Pullman School Senior Housing, Chicago

Award for Rehabilitation

  • Pullman Artspace Lofts, Chicago

Award for Restoration

  • Union Station, Chicago
  • Nauvoo Historic Residences, Nauvoo

Award for Stewardship

  • Duncan Manor, Towanda
