We are proud to announce two $100,000 grants to strengthen local journalism in Illinois through Press Forward Chicago and Press Forward Springfield. This support underscores our commitment to ensuring Illinoisans have access to trusted news that informs and connects.

Strong local journalism drives civic engagement and builds trust, accountability, and connection. These grants align with our broader vision to empower communities through credible reporting on issues of local relevance.

These grants to the two Illinois-based Press Forward chapters add to more than $6 million awarded over the last three years through our Investigative Journalism for Government Accountability funding program, and our earlier investment in Press Forward Chicago.

Press Forward Springfield, housed at the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln, is the first Illinois chapter outside of Chicago and will support newsrooms across eight counties in central Illinois.
